The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has let out to the United States in hopes of establishing a secure alliance and to end the conflicts, from those obtaining nuclear programs being one of the main topics. As stated by President Rouhani, he told the Washington Post, "We must work together to end the unhealthy rivalries and interferences that fuel violence and drive us apart," Iranian officials claim to have the nuclear program for peaceful and energy purposes only, while other countries such as the United States believe that the nuclear program is planned to create nuclear weapons. Other nations are worried by this nuclear program because of the sole fact that Iran is not cooperating with the international nuclear authorities and they are not open about the subject. Countries obtaining nuclear programs such as the United States, Russia, and Japan emphasizes the power that country has in the world. With Iran creating its own nuclear program, it is a way of demonstrating that Iran is attempting to portray leadership in the world. Despite all the suspicion of Iran having nuclear weapons, President Rouhani said in an interview, "We have never pursued or sought a nuclear bomb and we are not going to do so."
