The war in Iraq had nearly the entire United States protesting to end the war, but not for 22nd century military fanatic Myron Orkney. Owning a box set of nine neocortex insertion discs which contain archives from the war as well as letters from the soldiers themselves, Orkney can watch documentaries about the Iraqi war day and night. Orkney gave his personal opinion about the war in Iraq, stating "It certainly was a different time back then. Not only did they have troops who were actually physically on site during battles, but a lot of those guys went into combat without limb-regeneration technologies or even body armor. Can you imagine that? One of these days I'm going to take the whole family to the Holy Islamic Caliphate of Iraq so we can tour all the historic battle sites." As people can tell, Orkney is truly obsessed with the war in the past which is currently our present... Unfortunately Orkney did not explain the difference between the wars occurring during his time and the one he cherishes that occurred in Iraq. Also, he is quite the opposite of his wife, who enjoys romantic period dramas, and it would be a hassle for his wife to visit the places her husband wants considering their difference in interests.

  1. This is irony at its best, when a so-called war –hungry fanatic takes pleasure watching and reading all about innocent people dying and sustaining life-long injuries from the comfort of his home. Perhaps maybe he can join the army and fight without body armor in the middle of a desert, thousands of miles away from his family.

  2. Ladies and gentlemen, I now present to you the beautiful art of satire. It is true genius how one could take a subject so serious and sentimental to society and families today and turn it into a work of comedy. The Iraqi War has taken many lives of devoted, strong, and intelligent men and women. Next time out maybe they should bring their body armor and "limb regenerating technologies." Also, it seems as though Myron completely opposes and disregards his wife's opinion; further proving the divorce rates are probably still high.

  3. Great article choice Shahe. This particular post on The Onion also interested me enough to write about. The Irony present in the text makes it highly humorous and the fact that it is relatable to today's standards, the present time, makes it even funnier. Without a doubt, I can imagine fathers in the future having significant interests in subjects that seem to not matter today.

  4. It is quite cynical that this man finds war as a source of entertainment. Unfortunately, his thirst for blood has devoured his ethics and morals. Therefore, he became a burden on his wife and child. Just imagine taking a family vacation to the vicious battlegrounds of Iraq. I can picture Myron obsessing over the marching army as his wife attempts to 'tan' under the roasting sun. The blog was humorously satirical. Nice work Shay-Hay!
