In one of the United State's most beautiful and visited tourist area, Yosemite has caught a contagious fire that is spreading at an extremely fast rarte, catching firefighters and residents off guard. The devastating fire has burned over 125,000 acres of land, destroyed only 9 structures despite the 4,500 estimated structures that are to be affected by this fire. San Fransico's power supply is at risk due to this fire and is being monitored closely. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission was obligated to shut down transmission lines, and have a possibility of receiving damage to the water and electrical assets of the city.
People may think this is another one of those casual fire that any firefighter can handle, but on the contrary. The Rim Fire is one of the largest, fastest growing fires that people have seen in the past 11 years. At times, the raging fire doubles over night such as Friday growing from 63,000 acres to 105,000 acres. As of Friday night, the fire was 2% contained, which is catastrophic, considering the rate at which the fire is growing and destroying the historic landmark of Yosemite.

  1. The rim fire is one of the most devastating and largest fires that Los Angeles has had in the last few years. Facts and information are presented clearly and expertly in this post, going from the percentages to how the city of San Francisco is responding to the fire. This was a great informative article Shahe, good job.

  2. What a well thought out summary. Job well done, Shahe. Applause is appropriate due to the balance of statistics and real-world visualization. It seems people can grasp visualizations when compared to events or objects fairly familiar. However, this was a summary of an article and that article did no such thing. Much obliged for this information.

  3. Reading about the Rim Fire's destructive capabilites is profoundly alarming. This post is notably factual, helping broaden the knowledge of others. It is strikingly courgeous of the firefighters risking their lives in order to put this roaring fire out. I have never visited Yosemite National Park, however knowing its beauty and fascinating scenery, it is a shame to see it all reduced to ashes. Great job Shahe!

This article is a great way to inform the public, and ensure their safety. On a good note, the summary is well written. Good luck to all those fire fighters who are risking their lives. Good choice, Shahe!

  5. Reading about this devastating incident truly makes you stop and think about how precious nature really is. This fire is absolutely a tragic event. It is astonishing how something can spread so quickly and vastly. This blog post is appeals very well to it's audience's pathos and has an appeal to ones logos because of the factual information. The post is very well structured and makes the reader imagine the beautiful Yosemite National Park. The only suggestion for this blog post would be to proof read the post before confirming it, other than that, great job Shahe!

  6. I choose this topic as well because it interested me the most. The thought that all these beautiful places are being burnt down should make people be more careful and appreciate the lands more. It's scary how one small accident can cause such large damage. It is everyone's responsibility to care for the environment around us, to ensure a beautiful ecosystem for future generations.
